Best UAE VAT software 2026: a practical comparison
A comparison of UAE VAT tools by workflow, filing route, integrations and evidence. Published by TaxSey — so expect that disclosure throughout. We cite each vendor against their own live pages and leave gaps marked "not verified" rather than invent features.

Disclosure
TaxSey publishes this comparison. We benefit commercially if you choose TaxSey. We have tried to represent other vendors fairly against their live product pages, but you should always verify claims against the vendor's own site and, where relevant, the FTA accredited software vendor register and the Ministry of Finance e-invoicing register.
How to choose
Three questions do most of the work:
- 1. Do you need the ledger, or the tax layer on top? Accounting platforms (Zoho Books, QuickBooks, Xero) do VAT inside your bookkeeping. Tax-focused tools sit above an existing ledger and specialise in the return workflow.
- 2. Do you want software only, or managed service? If you want a human to prepare and review the return, the choice is a services provider plus any software they use, not a software subscription alone.
- 3. Is e-invoicing in scope for you? UAE e-invoicing from 2027 requires an accredited service provider on the MoF register. Not all accounting or tax tools are accredited; most need an ASP partner.
The main options, honestly described
TaxSey (us)
UAE-focused VAT and CT preparation software. Starter from AED 199/month (annual) with VAT preparation up to 200 invoices/month; Professional adds CT and accounting integrations. We also run a services team that uses the software to deliver AED 500/return VAT filing and CT work. Final submission is on EmaraTax by the preparer after approval.
Not currently a Ministry of Finance accredited e-invoicing service provider.
Zoho Books UAE
General accounting ledger with UAE VAT built in. Direct VAT201 submission to EmaraTax is marketed on Zoho's UAE pages. Published AED-denominated pricing per organisation per month. A paid e-invoicing add-on handles PINT-AE output. Good fit when you want ledger + VAT in one place.
Verify current pricing and integration status on zoho.com/ae/books/.
Wafeq
UAE-focused accounting platform with VAT and CT reporting layouts aligned to FTA requirements. Claims MoF e-invoicing accreditation on its public pages. Widely used by SMEs in the region. CT filing capability is reporting-oriented rather than direct submission.
Verify accreditation status against the MoF e-invoicing accredited provider register.
QuickBooks UAE / Xero
International accounting platforms with UAE VAT functionality. Strong for businesses that need multi-country books or a well-known accounting brand. Direct EmaraTax submission and CT functionality should be verified per vendor against their live UAE pages.
Xero currently appears on the FTA accredited accounting software vendor register; always confirm status at point of purchase.
Enterprise: SAP, Oracle, Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE
For businesses already on enterprise ERPs. SAP has announced UAE e-invoicing capability with final MoF accreditation pending at the time of writing. ONESOURCE markets a GCC VAT platform suitable for large multi-country tax teams. Not sensible choices for an SME looking at a single-entity VAT return.
Verify current accreditation and integration coverage directly with the vendor.
Specialist: ClearTax, Avalara, Fonoa, Vertex
E-invoicing and indirect-tax specialists with UAE coverage of varying depth. Typical fit: businesses that need PINT-AE validation, high-volume invoice issuance or multi-country cross-border tax reporting. Less suitable for a single UAE entity needing basic VAT return preparation.
This is not a ranked "best" list. The right choice depends on the three questions above. We link to each vendor's live pages so you can verify.
You also have the free official option
Every UAE VAT return can be filed directly on EmaraTax by the taxpayer, with no paid software subscription. The official portal is free. Paid software exists to make the preparation and reconciliation work faster and more accurate — not to give you access to something only the vendor can unlock.
